Solving Kids' Cancer
The brief:
A highly emotive and effective charity, Solving Kids’ Cancer fights for a future where no child dies of the childhood cancer neuroblastoma or suffers due to its treatment. They work to achieve this through a range of activities, including family support, the provision of access to treatment, research and campaigning. The CEO asked Paul to provide advice on their strategy and to help recruit their Head of Fundraising.
Our approach:
Paul spent a long period of time supporting Solving Kids' Cancer's Fundraising Manager and gaining a detailed perspective on the charity’s needs both at a tactical and strategic level. He provided practical advice and support on focusing their activities and gaining the best return on investment. When it came to supporting their search for a Head of Fundraising, he was a strong position to assist the organisation. He spoke with the trustees and CEO to gain their perspectives on what they were seeking from the appointment and utilised, to good effect, his wider knowledge of the fundraising recruitment landscape.
What they said:
"I have known Paul professionally for in excess of 18 years. He and I worked together at Macmillan Cancer Support; I was Director of the London, Anglia and South East Region and Paul swiftly gained promotion to become Area Fundraising Manager for Greater London. More recently, when I became CEO of Solving Kids’ Cancer in 2016, I sought Paul’s advice on the development of the charity’s fundraising strategy, as well as the recruitment and appointment of my Head of Fundraising. Paul spoke to my Board and sat on the interview panel. Paul is knowledgeable with a wealth of experience which he communicates in a concise and discerning manner. He is highly respected within the profession, with strong people management skills. I would heartily recommend him." Stephen Richards, CEO
